These exquisite tea sets were sourced directly from the famous city of Yixing, in Jiangsu Province. Each teapot has been individually selected by Larsen & Thompson.

Yixing has been renowned for centuries for its fine Zisha ware. Zisha is a mixture of clay, quartz and mica. It has a high content of iron, and a firing temperature between 1100 - 1200 degrees celsius. 

Under high temperature, minerals in Zisha are melted, decomposed and shrunk, thus creating micro pores in the fired clay. These pores give Yixing teapots their unique characteristics: they absorb the flavour of tea, keep tea in high temperature and don't crack in huge temperature differences.

 

Yixing Teapots are well suited for teas which require hot water temperatures, such as Puerh, Blacks and Oolongs.
