A Gift of Tea

Our popular green glazed pots filled with Shan Plateau Oolong tea (Jungle Green) are now in stock.

Their elegant shape is inspired by traditional Martaban jars, made in the south of Myanmar, close to the Gulf of Martaban. These large ceramic storage pots were highly prized and were traded from Burma for more than 500 years.

Our small homage, in green earthenware, is made by a talented lady potter, a descendant of a respected lineage of skilled artisans. Using soft terracotta clay, she throws effortlessly and almost meditatively on a rudimentary kick wheel.
